for the exercise.
Larry has also volunteered a seat on his

Super Commuter
The June 2006 Avon Ski Market
Super Commuter is David Zevin, a resident of Glastonbury, who
works in downtown Hartford.
Dave started biking to work in
1986 when his car needed expensive repairs. He never repaired
the car and has been commuting by bike ever since. He commutes
12 months of the year, 2 or 3 times a week and never finds the
bike ride a chore, it is the most enjoyable way he knows of to
get to work. Dave says "The highlight of my bike commute is
when I am riding on the Charter Oak bridge and can look down at
the traffic I would be sitting in if I was in my car. Biking is
the way to go!" |
West Hartford Mayor Scott Slifka presented the
Award after riding in with the Elizabeth Park Bike Pool. |

Christopher started bike commuting to downtown Hartford after
attending one of our Bike-to-Work events several years
ago.
His initial interest has evolved
into a regular commuting habit, which he has continued despite
demands of family and job. He works to encourage others to
bike-commute and has been instrumental
in having bicycle parking installed in a number of downtown
garages. |

2006 Super Commuter
The September 2006 Avon Ski
Market Super Commuter is Karen Anastasio of
Simsbury. Karen
started commuting regularly by bike in 2003 when her job was
relocated to Hartford. She commutes to work 2-3 times per
week, April-November, 16-20 miles each way, and takes only 5
minutes longer than the bus! Karen
likes to start very early in the morning for a quick –
traffic-free ride. She says that her commute by bike "saves
money and eliminates ‘rush hour road rage’ from my life. It
also provides the base for my cycling training for the
triathlons I participate in during the summer months." |
