Launch of the "Bike Everywhere" Program
In 2005, the Central Connecticut Bicycle Alliance organized as a 501-c3 in order to advocate more effectively for better bicycling and pedestrian facilities. For more than six years, CCBA and its predecessor program, Bike to Work, have promoted cycling as a viable commuting option. We believe that the time is right to expand the “Bike to Work” concept to a “Bike Everywhere” approach in the Central Connecticut region. We are designing a program to encourage more people who use their bicycles to travel many places where their cars now take them, like shopping, restaurants, visiting friends, and going to the movies, church and wherever else two wheels can take them. We believe that such a program, which will include incentives for area businesses that support the concept, can favorably impact the number of people who view a bicycle as a reasonable alternative to car travel. Each Bike Everywhere event you participate in will give you a chance to win prizes when you pre-register or provide your information at an event.
